Material names alone do not tell you which entrance is suitable. Compare the complete steel and aluminum door assemblies: profile geometry, reinforcement, finish, infill, thermal design, seals, locks and intended size.
At the same solid volume, steel is heavier than aluminum, but finished doors use different sections and construction. Do not choose pivot hardware or estimate transport weight from a simple material label. Request a verified bill of materials and assembly weight.
Compare documented air, water, wind, thermal and security performance for the proposed configuration, along with maintenance and repair needs. A thermally separated aluminum design and a steel design without a thermal break are not equivalent comparisons.
